The department was established right from the inception of the college. At present the department has three faculty. The department is actively involved in the research work. Two members have M.Phil. and Ph.D. and One has M.Phil degree. The faculty has several Publication in the international Journals and also have presented papers in the National and international Conferences, have completed UGC MR project. Faculty of the Department have been nominated as member of BOS in Physics of Goa University. Department offers Physics three units along with mathematics and Physics six units at B.Sc. V and VI Semester. The performance of our students at University examination is extremely good. Results of the Physics department at University examination is always excellent with many distinctions & 1st classes. The students of this department has been awarded gold medal for B.Sc. and M.Sc. Examination conducted by Goa University and some of the students are the recipient of the Principal award for the best outgoing student. One of our Physics student has joined NASA (USA).
Students with Physics six units or three units can persue their studies in courses like M.Sc , MCA, MBA, B.Ed ,M.Sc. Electronics and M.Sc. in instrumentation. Some of our students have joined for research in different research institutions. The Physics students with B.Sc., M.Sc and Ph.D. have great demand in the academics, educational institutions and Industries.
Department organizes seminars for the students on the recent trends in the subject to keep them aware about the developments in subject. The faculty members along with the students visit, research oriented institutions like NIO, BITS, NCAOR and Goa University. Every year the faculty and the students of this department attend the annual convention, workshop/seminar organized by Indian Association of Physics teachers.
