Department was established in June 1986. Initially with Three Units Marathi. In 1994 Marathi Entire (Six Units) was introduced. There are two Full-Time and one on Lecture basis Faculty members in Department. Faculty of Marathi always support students by providing reading material and by giving more attention to students creative talent. Changes are made in syllabus during 2014-15 for Sem I and Sem II.
Overall University result is satisfactory(every year between 90 to 100%). Our student Miss. Prachi Joshi secured Ist rank in the subject of Marathi in University examination April / May 2013. Department has recently acquired Audio-Visual C.D. Library.C.D.s are used to impart additional knowledge of subject in Language Laboratory of our college. Faculty members actively involved in counseling of the students ,attending seminars conference, presenting papers etc.
The Department has actively involved in various Literary and Linguistic Programs organized by several literary bodies viz. Sahitya Sevak Mandal Panaji, Gomantak Marathi Acadami,Parvarim -Goa etc. These Associations inspires our students to actively participate in various competitions, Festivals, Academic as well as Cultural programs. Our Literary Association -Vangmaya Mandal release nearly 6 issues of Wall-Paper named `Parikrama’.
